PSAT 8/9-Scholars & AVID students | All other Freshmen (9th graders) will take a Regents Diagnostic Test
PSAT-Sophomores (10th graders)
SAT-Juniors (11th graders)
The PSAT 8/9 is designed to be taken as eighth or ninth graders start their high school journey. Its structure, sections, and timing are the same as the PSAT 10, PSAT/NMSQT and SAT. The Reading and Writing and Math sections measure the knowledge and skills your child is learning in school—the same knowledge and skills that matter most for college and career readiness.
The SAT is an exam created and administered by the College Board aimed at measuring a high school student’s readiness for college. Additionally, it provides colleges with a common measure used to compare all applicants.
A Regents Diagnostic test is a pre-test that helps students identify which topics they already know and which topics they need to review before taking a New York State Regents exam.
